Sometimes referred to as 'Lift, Clean, and Place'.
This local rule is usually invoked when the course is excessively wet, but can also be invoked due to generally poor course conditions.
Basic Rule: Through the green, in closely mown areas only (fairway height or shorter). The players may lift the ball, clean it, and return it (place) within a given distance to the original spot. If the ball is lifted, the positioned must be marked. The ball must be placed not closer to the hole than the original spot. The committee will declare the maximum distance from the original spot that the ball may be replaced. Eg., one scorecard lenght, one grip, one meter, etc.
Modified Rule: Same as above but Preferred lies allowed all areas through the green.
